Queens United Cricket Academy (QUCA) located in Queens, NY will take squads of young cricketers from various age groups across the USA on tour to Barbados, West Indies, where the cricketers will participate in a series of matches against local academies, clubs and other touring sides in that country, from April 7-16, 2017.
The knowledgeable QUCA staff is familiar with the requirements for such overseas tours, and parents can rest assured that the QUCA staff will take care of all the arrangements and provide the children with a memorable experience. Having spent the 2016 domestic season in the USA and Canada honing their skills and playing a series of games, the QUCA team will jet off to Barbados for a taste of life on tour as a cricketer. Each squad will focus on their continuing skills development, as well as taking time out to explore the local surroundings and learning more about playing cricket overseas.
George Samuel, QUCA Academy Director, and Tony Hinds, Academy President, are looking forward to the post winter touring program. Tony Hinds said, “Playing and training week after week at the Indoor facility here in the USA is important to the players and has kept them alert, fit, and in touch with the game. Our superb Cricket Development (coaching) team focuses on ensuring each player develops their skills to the highest level possible, so that they can enjoy playing and hopefully winning games.
“However, playing overseas and touring as a team adds a totally different dimension to that. The opportunity to tour, play and train together in different conditions is a key part of what we, at QUCA Academy, strive to offer our players. The task of adapting to the playing conditions in the West Indies will be a testing one. We want to enable the young cricketers to become the best they can be, by exposing them to as many different challenges and learning experiences as possible.”
But for George Samuel, “The experiences and memories that the players and coaches will collect on and off the pitch, during the tours, will last a lifetime. Along with QUCA officials, Lalit Bhatia and Pradeep Joseph Daniel Level 2 coaches with QUCA, are also part of the 2017 tour. Regardless of the results, the friendships forged and skills learned are equally as important as whether the teams win or lose. I’m really pleased and proud that we can extend this opportunity to North American players and coaches.”
